Pamukkale & Hierapolis Day Trip from Antalya
Travertines, Cleopatra's Pool and ancient Hierapolis — full-day tour.
Pamukkale — "cotton castle" in Turkish — is a UNESCO World Heritage cascade of blindingly white travertine terraces filled with mineral-warm turquoise water, wrapped around the ruins of the Greco-Roman spa city of Hierapolis. This full-day trip from Antalya, Belek, Side, Kemer or Alanya is the country's most iconic day tour, and for most guests the single best day of their Turkish holiday. The 3-hour drive north climbs through the Taurus mountains with a breakfast stop and a brief visit to a leather workshop (no pressure to buy). At Pamukkale you'll walk barefoot on the travertines — the calcium-rich water sculpting the hillside is warm and shallow, safe for all ages. Above the terraces spreads Hierapolis: a colonnaded main street, a huge necropolis, and the beautifully preserved Roman theatre where afternoon light turns the marble honey-gold. Optional entry (€15 pp, paid on site) opens Cleopatra's Antique Pool, where you can swim among fallen Doric columns in 36°C thermal water. Lunch is an open buffet at a local restaurant with mountain views. Guides are English, German and Russian speaking, licensed by the Ministry of Tourism, and small-group friendly (usually 12–20 guests). Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure. It is a long day — expect ~11 hours door-to-door — but the return drive is comfortable in an air-conditioned coach with rest stops.

Long day (13 hours door to door) but 100% worth it. Cotton castle terraces are breathtaking, ancient Hierapolis ruins are massive, and swimming among sunken Roman columns in Cleopatra's Pool is bucket-list stuff. Bring water shoes — the calcium is sharp.
Kids loved every minute. Guide was patient and fun.
Absolutely perfect day — the crew were friendly, the food fresh and the water unreal. Booking was seamless.
